Solution architecture content is typically produced in projects. However, solution architecture can also involve documenting the current state of solutions. In projects, the scope of solution architecture varies, as the project’s needs dictate the content: which architectural areas are described and what level of detail is appropriate. The architecture produced in projects must support both the planning and execution of the project. Ultimately, the architecture serves as the project’s design documentation.
Solution architecture in projects is created at both a high level and a more detailed level. As the project progresses, the level of detail in the solution architecture naturally increases.
The typical outputs of architectural work during projects include the following:
Analysing the project’s impact: positioning of the project
Designing the solution architecture for the project: descriptions of the current and target states, architectural analyses, and transition phases for larger projects
Deploying and refining the solution architecture: providing more detailed architectural descriptions where necessary
Updating the organisation’s enterprise and solution architecture: updated descriptions of the enterprise and solution architecture
Solution architecture that is done as planning documentation does not cover everything, as the most detailed design is usually carried out during the project itself, often using tools other than the architecture tool. Agile project methodologies have further emphasised the need for more detailed design during implementation.
As mentioned, the solution architecture descriptions produced during a project arise from various needs, and as such, they can cover almost anything. Often, the lifecycle of architectural outputs created during a project corresponds to the project itself, meaning little content requires ongoing maintenance. However, a specific subset of the solution architecture descriptions may be integrated into the organisation’s maintained solution architecture or system documentation.

Tiedolla johtaminen on kaikkien niiden organisaatioiden strategioiden keskiössä, missä avainasemassa ovat tieto ja sen hyödyntäminen. Tiedolla johtamisen suunnittelua tarkastellaan webinaarissa arkkitehdin silmälasein: miten tiedolla johtaminen asemoituu organisaatiossa ja miten edetä sen kanssa.
Webinaarissa käydään läpi yksi esimerkki (tietoarkkitehtuurin tuotos), karkea tietomalli (jotkut kutsuvat näitä päätietoryhmiksi) melko konkreettisella tasolla. Webinaarissa kerrotaan miten se tehtiin ja mihin kaikkeen sitä voikaan käyttää.

Webinaarissa tarkastellaan miten tiedonhallintamallin voi kuvata kokonaisarkkitehtuurin avulla. Tehokkaimmillaan tiedonhallintamalli kuvataan osana kokonaisarkkitehtuuria, mikä tarjoaa sisältöä myös muiden tiedonhallintalain vaatimusten täyttämiseen. Samalla esitellään myös käytännön esimerkkejä kokonaisarkkitehtuurikuvausten soveltamisesta.
